Happy 4th! Are you ready for all the grilling and picnicking? We can help...Stop by the market to get both staples and specialty items for your grill and table.

While meat is the first food you think of for BBQs, vegetable sides are just as important. Don't forget grilling vegetables like zucchini and kohlrabi as well as head lettuces, cucumbers, tomatoes, and delicate radishes for salad and crudites platters. You can kill two birds with one stone (no pun intended) by heading to Letterbox Farm Collective​'s tent to grab both meat and veggie. Don't forget the stunning edible flowers to stud your salads. Their radishes and carrots make a delicious vessel for MOMO dressing​'s edamame dip. It has a little kick but it won't overwhelm your taste buds. If you're making a salad, don't forget a bottle of their salad dressing.

The Three Little Pigs food truck is back with holiday-appropriate BBQ, prepared on-site.

Note that the Knife Sharpener is NOT at the market this weekend-he's away for the holiday.

Pizza: the perfect canvas for showcasing farmer's market finds

thumb 13873100 1152406231469898 4896261711673720001 nThe Cookery's Dough Nation Pizza truck will be at the market tomorrow and we can't wait to see what they'll cook up with their market finds. David DiBari, the chef and owner of The Cookery, has been making pizza since we was a kid, after his uncle built him a pizza oven in the backyard of his childhood home in Northern Westchester. The cornerstone of the pizza is "a type of dough that’s less handled, very soft, has a nice cornichon that has a little bit of crisp with those beautiful black blisters all over it that come from the flame licking the dough. It should be just chewy enough and slightly crisp on the bottom.” In their review, the The New York Times says "the crusts consistently meet the high standards he has set for himself — they’re delicious" and calls the pizza "outstanding." Grab one of their pies at the market and we're sure you will come to the same conclusion.

After you grab a pie, make sure to stop by Letterbox and congratulate Nickhi on her wedding last weekend to fellow farmer Laszlo Lazar. Their sheepdog is clearly overjoyed they've made their union official! Congrats newlyweds!

Father's Day

Father's Day is Sunday...head to the market tomorrow to stock up on the ingredients to make a special meal for dad.

Start off with some great cuts of meat for the grill. Letterbox Farm Collective raises their pigs and chicken with lots of love and care and you can taste it in the flavor of their meat. While you're there, pick up some beautiful edible flowers to garnish your accompanying salad with.

Stone and Thistle has a variety of sausages that are easy and quick to cook. If you're considering a Father's Day ramen, their pork bone broth makes for a delicious base.

FarmEats will have different cuts of steak and ground beef for burgers. If you're going that route don't forget a bottle of NY Chup-locally made ketchup.

Top off the meal with some dessert-chocolates from Luxx or how about a crostata-a rustic pie- from Nutmeg. Or maybe catch the last of the strawberry rhubarb pies from Pie Lady & Son.

Cold drinks for a hot summer

Custom ColdBrew will have their Columbia Supremo-a medium roast with nutty, chocolate overtones- on tap for your enjoyment at the market along with bottles of their Italian Roast, Panama Graham, Cafe Mocha, and Sumatra. Stock up your fridge to keep you cool these next few days.

If you're looking for something a little harder, new vendor Awestruck Ciders is visiting.  Starting with 100%, cold-pressed NYS apple cider, they add various botanicals to produce unique flavors like Hibiscus Ginger, Lavender Hops, and Empire-their newest.

Wild Sea Salt is also visiting us for the first time. Blending natural sea salt with seaweed (for iodine) and foraged wild plants, it adds a great depth of flavor to many dishes.

Strawberries are at the market again, but get there early. They always sell out. Nothing compares to a ripened strawberry picked the day before you eat it!

If you're staying for bit to enjoy the sounds of Greg Adams, Mariachi Mexico is returning with their menu of fresh and simple Mexican street food. They'll also have agua frescas- natural juices made with water- to cool you down. A perfect lunch for a warm day.

Strawberries, BBQ truck, and the last of the rhubarb

Another beautiful day for an outdoor farmers' market! More seasonal produce and fruit tomorrow and a BBQ truck!

3 little pigsOur friends to the north Three Little Pigs BBQ of Hawthorne are visiting the market tomorrow with authentic Southern-style BBQ. They'll have pulled pork tacos, kimchi salad, and much more. Enjoy at the market while you listen to the bluegrass tunes of the Shovel Ready String Band.

If you're more in the mood for a snack than a full-blown meal, try an arancini from diRiso Risotto Balls. They'll be familiar to you from last year when dad Riccardo brought them to market. This year his son Matteo, who just graduated college, is expanding the family business and focusing on the risotto balls that currently come with three fillings- pesto and mozzarella (made fresh by them) bologenese, and porcini. We dare you to have just one.

Pair them with the last of the season's rhubarb and try one of these recipes from HuffPost Lifestyle. Strawberry rhubarb pancakes for Sunday brunch perhaps?

Monthly vendors AnnaMaria's Foods and MOMO dressing will be at the market- the only time in June so stock up! Anna Maria's makes savory jams to pair with cheese, spread on meat, or use as a marinade. Momo will have their full line of Japanese-inspired salad dressings and their edamame hummus. Yum!

Moo! The Bronxville Farmer's Market opens May 13th!

We are so happy to return to the corner of Stone & Paxton where, from May through November, we will be bringing fresh local greens (with lots more organic this year!), artisanal breads and cheese, locally-caught fish, pastured pork and charcuterie and of course, homespun seasonal pies, every week. You can expect an every-changing roster of musicians and more cooking demos this year, too.

Very happy to welcome new vendor Miracle Springs Farm from Gallatin,NY - a 200 acre bio-dynamic farm with a herd of 40 goats and a bevvy of ​ milking cows. They will be bringing goat and cow's milk cheese and yogurt as well as organic greens and sauerkraut - from their partner farm, Hawthorne Valley. Also new Brooklyn Bread and Sweets bringing old-fashioned Italian cookies, and market frittatas - perfect to snack on while shopping.

And, all your favorite longtime vendors are returning, too...See you at the market!
